Personal papers, including diaries, photographs, maps, manuals and other memorabilia that relate to the 2nd Air Division USAAF servicemen who were based in Norfolk during the Second World War are now on deposit with the Norfolk Record Office, the county's archive service. Veterans, local people and researchers continue to donate the material to the 2nd Air Division USAAF Memorial Trust. Records documenting the activities of the Memorial Trust have been deposited as well. The individual collections, which range from one or two items to several hundred items, are available for use in the research room of the Norfolk Record Office. Any requests for copies of 2nd Air Division materials from the Norfolk Record Office must be approved in advance by the Trust Librarian.

Monday, Wednesday to Friday: 9.00am - 5.00pm
Tuesday: 9:30am - 5:00pm
Saturday: 9.00am - 12.00 noon

Catalogue Information:
You can search a full catalogue of the 2nd Air Division, United States Army Air Force (USAAF), records via NROCAT, the online database of the Norfolk Record Office. This is available on their website at http://nrocat.norfolk.gov.uk The main catalogue references for USAAF are MC 371 and MC 376. For records of the 2nd Air Division Memorial Trust the main catalogue reference is SO 247.

Payment and invoices for overseas researchers:
If you have ordered copies of 2nd Air Division, United States Army Air Force, records deposited at the Norfolk Record Office and you are an overseas researcher please note the following about payment.

If you have access to a British checking account you can pay in British pounds. The minimum check that we can accept is £5.00.

If you do not have access to a British bank account, the NRO can send out an official invoice. The minimum invoice that can be sent is for £10.00 (about $20.00) so you can pay by telephone with a credit or debit card. Unfortunately the NRO cannot accept e-mail payments at the moment.

East Anglian Film Archive
The Archive Centre is also home to the University of East Anglia's East Anglian Film Archive, which holds films of the East of England region from 1896 to the present day. These include films relating to USAAF servicemen based in East Anglia during the Second World War. Opening hours are as for the Norfolk Record Office, however the EAFA will open on Saturday by prior arrangement only. Contact details are:
